The race was postponed while latecomers quickly rigged boats and got on the water just in time for the 5 minute gun.

Trusty crew

1st over the start line was Larry Foxton and his trusty crew Mike taking the close shore followed closely on top end by Brian Allen and Rob Mitchell both boats the sleek fast Hurricane SXs, Stafford and his crew also on a Hurricane hot on their tails....Martin and Debbie Chivers on a Dart 18 sportingly gave the Hurricanes a 45 second head start as they zipped over the start line.

Neck and neck

The 1st leg would prove crucial in tactics as Brian tacked early to the 1st mark which proved a good move as they rounded well in front of the fleet.. With kites flying they roared off downwind hoping to increase their lead.. Stafford behind was up for the challenge and taking the tidal advantage was soon closing in on the leading boat... Neck and neck they tasselled for the front position.

Penalty turn

A port and starboard incident led Stafford to have to do a penalty turn and Brian taking on some slight damage to his bow.. Stafford this time taking the off shore line soon gained the advantage and rounded the windward mark well in front of Brian and Rob and continued to Increase their lead throughout the rest of the race...

Further down the fleet it was proving to be a testing time for the other boats with Team Chivers struggling to find his form.. The only mono hull in the race sailed by husband and wife team Peter and Helen made steady progress round the race sailing a tactical course throughout.

At race end with times taken and handicap numbers worked out the well deserved winners were Stafford and Glenn.
